Lets Find Some Pabbles to Raise the Water Level- A Movement by LAHS |

Pebble I: Learn and Act ‘Water Harvesting’
The best way to save water is to follow the “three-word spell: ‘Reduce, Reuse & Recycle’. At Little Angels High School we follow the philosophy of “Let deeds, not words be your adorning”. To keep our commitment to the water issue, we have followed the path of rainwater harvesting. We can proudly say that we have one of the biggest rainwater-harvesting units in the city. The main pit of this system is connected by many drains; so that most of rainwater from different parts of school building rooftops is sent underground to replenish the water table. This rainwater harvesting does not give any direct benefit to us, but all it does is increase the ground water level. This is part of our commitment to social cause of “Save that drop for tomorrow”. |

Pebble II: Tell Others ‘Responsbility Towards Mother Earth’
We have good thoughts & ideas and we also follow them, of course we should tell more and more people, at least those close to us, so that they also can benefit from these good thoughts. On April 9th 2008, our students gave presentations to the parents about what they have gained through Junior Youth Empowerment Program at our school. One of these 4 presentations was about “Charter of Mother Earth's Rights”. This charter has few basic principles, which we should understand and follow. One of the basic principles in this charter involves conserving water to save mother earth and in turn save her beloved children, including us. The students guided the present parents about how they can contribute in water conservation. |

Pebble III: Start A Social Movement ‘Jal Sena Campaign’
Dainik Bhaskar launched a campaign to save water among students . This campaign drafted all the students as “Jal Sainik” i.e. Water Soldiers. Mr. Balram Soni, Mr. Gaurav Jain & Mrs. Poonam Shrivastava emphasised on saving water through following methods:
1. Using buckets instead of showers or tubs for bath
2. Using buckets instead of hose pipes to wash vehicles
3. Using water bottles instead of glasses to drink water, reducing wastage of water each time to wash the glass
4. Re-using water from mopping floors for watering plants
Each Jal Sainik is now waging a daily personal war against wastage of water, thus saving the world from dire consequences. Now that we have the pebbles. |

LAHS launches India ethics campaign |
|
 |
|
Training in morals and good conduct is far more important than book learning. A child that is cleanly, agreeable, of good character, well behaved--even though he be ignorant --is preferable to a child that is rude, unwashed, ill-natured and yet becoming deeply versed in all the sciences and arts. The reason for this is that the child who conducts himself well even though he be ignorant, is of benefit to others, while an ill-natured, ill-behaved child is harmful to others, even though he be learned. If, however, the child be trained to be both learned and good, the result is light upon light. Baha'i writings.
Any student that comes to Little Angles School is treated like a precious gem, whose facets are polished, so that all the inherent good qualities in that individual are revealed and thus society gains one more all round agent of social change. We motivate students to excel in everythin, be it academics, sports or literary skills, and above all the moral values and actions are emphasized.
Following the Kai-Zen philosophy of continuous improvement, we are now the First school in M.P. & the Ninth in India to be Executive Partners with Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC)'s South Asia Ethics Campaign. The ethics campaign is a worldwide movement with an aim to empower children and youth to develop a strong sense of ethics. The objective in forming the GNRC was to contribute to the well being of children from religious perspectives, through collaboration and cooperation among students from different religious background engaged in activities for children. The GNRC is working to achieve this by cooperating, not only with religious people, but also with International Agencies, Governments, NGOs and children from all walks of life, in order to foster a global movement to create a better environment for children in the 21st century.
Little Angels High School Gwalior envisions a world in which all children are empowered to develop their spirituality by embracing ethical values, learning to live in solidarity with people of different religion. LAHS further believes that ethics education will enhance children's innate ability to make positive contributions to the well being of their peers, families, and communities, and this in turn will help the entire human family to thrive in an environment of greater justice, peace, compassion, hope and dignity. It provides a vehicle for youth to encounter and examine values with their peers from different religious, cultural and social backgrounds and to apply what they learn to the real challanges of their daily lives. On this occasion, Mrs. Farida Vahidi, Representative for South Asia Ethics Promoting Campaign for children’ inaugurated the India Ethics Campaign at Little Angels High School Gwalior on the 9th of April `08.
