Serving people and making them happy is not just a blank ideology for us. At LAHS we translatethis through our service projects. The aspects of Social Service Projects are well integrated into our Junior Youth Empowerment Program (JYEP) because we believe that good knowledge is useless without good action.
The spiritual empowerment our children gain at the school campus is further implemented into social service projects by working closely with children with special needs who require a helping hand, and true love from all of us. Our students collaborate with a number of humanitarian organizations like AtmaJyothi , Amar Jyothi, Madhav Andh Ashram and Roshni.
This small but beautiful world the Earth is the only home where humankind lives . Yet, this ‘mother’ is now trapped in the claws of cruel giants who are depleting her resources and scorching her face with global warming. LAHS students contribute their humble bite in saving the earth for the future generation by doing numerous activities to conserve and Preserve our Eco System.
Eco Club of LAHS is actively exerting efforts for creating a safer environment by tree plantation campaigns and creating awareness towards the three R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). LAHS declared itself a completely POLYBAG FREE ZONE more than 10 years ago when most schools did not even think about the hazardous impacts of polythene.
People say that the Third World War will be for water as it is becoming scarce day by day but at Little Angels every effort is made to divert the water war by harnessing Rain water effectively. In fact, the entire garden of the School receives water through this system all the year round. LAHS also has a Vermipost Project running in it’s campus to convert biological wastes into manure. We also have solar lights put up on the campus to light up the campus at night and conserve energy.
According to a well-known proverb: “Knowledge without travel is like a boat on dry land”. Educational excursions are, therefore an intrinsic element of LAHS education. LAHS students’ have travelled all over India. Our students have visited a number of international venues as well, such as Kennedy Space Centre, New York,NASA Hollywood, Mauritius, Nepal, Turkey, London, Srilanka, Singapore and a number of other countries. In this way, they have been able to realize the Vedic vision of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, reiterated by Baha’u’llah that: The earth is but one country and mankind it’s citizens.
Providing education to a child does not simply mean educating them and then leaving them alone on the pathway of life. Students need the right guidance for choosing a befitting career matching with their aptitude and calibre. Little Angels High School has a dedicated full time counsellor and students are free to interact with her anytime and seek proper advice .
In addition, the school regularly invites veteran professionals and LAHS alumni from all walks of life to conduct interactive sessions with our students wherein they can have in-depth understanding about a certain career and also have interactive sessions with the speakers.
Having a regular and systematic Junior Youth Empowerment Program at school can really help students develop morally.
As we all know adolescence is the transition from childhood to youth, young adolescents referred to as junior youth experience rapid physical, intellectual, and emotional changes.
A new level of awareness fosters in them an increased interest in profound questions .During this critical period, ideas about the individual and society that may very well shape the rest of their lives are formed. However knowledge of these new powers is often combined with feelings of worry, discomfort, and doubt that may produce contradictions in behaviour.
Some views of junior youth do not cast this period of life in a positive light. Popular views, for instance, regard this age as full of confusion and crisis. Such thoughts foster conditions in which undesirable patterns of behaviour and violence are manifest in them.
The key issue to consider then is what the sources of violent patterns of behaviour are that sometimes characterize some junior youth. Two factors require particularly careful thought in this regard. First, the effect of negative social forces on many youth has led to the spread of various social ills that have great influence on how young students view themselves and society. Second, junior youth are heavily affected by the behaviour of adults towards them. Although at this age they are gaining insights into many profound matters, adults sometimes insist on treating them like children. In addition, the difference in words and actions that some adults at times exhibit can be a source of confusion to young people who are looking for standards by which to shape their lives.
Stressing the effect of negative social forces on junior youth does not imply that young people are basically fragile. They can, with help, face these forces. They can develop the powers of the soul and mind that not only enable them to transcend such challenges but also make them contributors to building a new society.
Engaging students in Social Service Activities &The Junior Youth Empowerment Program at LAHS surely helps our students to become morally upright citizens.
